This child was born with a cleft lip, which made feeding difficult and affected facial development. The family, living in a rural area, was unaware that safe and free surgical treatment was available.
Through a community outreach program, they learned about the free cleft surgery camp at Lahane Hospital. After evaluation and counseling, the child underwent surgery under the Smile Train-supported program.
The procedure restored both function and facial balance. After recovery, the child was able to eat comfortably and smile with confidence. This case represents one of the many free cleft surgeries performed as part of the hospital’s ongoing community service initiatives.
